Aifotec AG is a Member of InSPECT
The overall goal of InSPECT (Integrated Spectrometers for Spectral Tissue Sensing) is to realize a miniature broadband solid-state light source and a miniature low-cost spectrometer operating in the VIS/NIR from 400 to 1700nm. One of the approaches of InSPECT to realize the miniature spectrometer device is the development of a microSpectrometer based on the miniaturization and monolithic integration of diffractive dispersive elements in a small volume (cubic inch) device and another one is the development of a nanoSpectrometer based on a photonic integrated circuit.
Stars Micro as CM partner

Aifotec AG participates in European FP7 research project “PHASTflex”
The project named PHASTflex (Photonic Hybrid ASsembly Through FLEXible waveguides) will focus on the development of a completely new assembly process and tooling concept to compose hybrid packages of active and passive PICs. Active PICs shall be coupled via adjustable waveguides on newly developed passive components, thus eliminating current costly and often customised assembly processes. As a result, PIC fabrication can now be done in a generic foundry-based process, significantly lowering PIC costs and so accelerating market penetration.
Aifotec AG participates in European FP7 research project “PLAT4M”
Aifotec AG is part of an EU project targeting a complete European silicon photonics supply chain. Lead by CEA-Leti, a four-year research project has commenced, aimed at building a European-based supply chain for silicon photonics. The project named PLAT4M (Photonic Libraries And Technology for Manufacturing) will focus on advancing the existing silicon photonics platform from a research level to one that enables seamless transition to the industry, enabling a volume production and manufacturing capability for different application fields. The project is part of the EU Framework 7 initiative.
